A Musical Endeavor: |
It’s the social network for pre-teens. | |||
|
And the sex-offenders who love them. It goes by the name MySpace,
and why on Earth would it be the place to which I extend MySelf?
Quite simply, because I was one of the first batch of people to get an
account, to experience social networking in all its alleged, clichéd
glory. There is no particular loyalty, inherently, but the other
social networking sites have yet to show me what they, in any convincing
way, actually DO.
Like any serious MySpacer, I spread my brilliance around through the effective use of multiple profiles. This is the MySpace Music profile, almost exclusively utilized for the promotion of my skills as a recording artist and songwriter. All are invited to request this one as a Friend. Selected bands will be accepted (as I listen to a track, at least, from everyone in my request list … if I don’t care for the music, you may not make the cut). Regular profiles, signifying somehow that you’re a real person who happened to like my music (or my tastes, or my background image, or the plain fact that I’m so freaking hawt), will probably be accepted sight-unseen. This is one of the fairly regular nicknames for my “intellectual” public persona, a personal profile focused on blogging and active in the MySpace community. No bands will be accepted, but any other fan is welcome to join the coveted Friends List. Don’t be put off by the fierce cerebration, unless it’s absolutely necessary. This was were it all began, a profile on the site that was registered and active back in the first week of February 2004, when Tom was all by himself, still reading programming books in his parents’ basement, where the MySpace server was overheating in the corner. As an early subscriber, I maintain this original profile for personal contacts. Its exclusive Friends List is mainly reserved for acquaintances, co-workers; basically only those I know, or has known, from the so-called “real life”. If you’re not already there, and you’re only now finding out about it here, you probably won’t make the cut … but please do request one of the other two profiles. That’s what they’re there for. Okay, so perhaps MySpace isn’t where you prefer to find me? Brian M. Weidemann, The Band on Facebook This is the official The Band page, and any and all Facebook members may add themselves to the increasing fan base, by clicking the Become A Fan link. The cool kids aren’t doing it, so you might as well be proud in your non-conformity by being the first. Brian Weidemann on Facebook This is my real self, my official, personal profile. As the Friends List here is pretty exclusive, I probably won’t add you, especially if I don’t recognize your name from anywhere. I include it here for the sake of my inner completist. |
